You can add any number of waterside Harbour Tiles to your Base Urban Set, to form a full city harbour area. You have to pre-order a Base Set before adding any more tiles and/or base sets in your order.
All three harbour designs are available in "Contemporary" (more suitable for "Modern" sets) and "Medieval" Themes. As the docks are artificial, there are none with the texture of the Rustic "dirt". However, the medieval themed harbour will look fine when combined with the "Rustic" theme.
These 30cm x 30cm (1'x1') Tiles can be combined to recreate a city harbour. Harbour tiles represent urban waterside areas, where water crafts can dock. So they are raised pieces, the "urban" side of the tile at a full height of 4cm. The dock side occupies a bit over half the tile, and after 18cm it drops to water level (1mm).
The "urban" side of each tile depicts the pattern from either "Medieval" or "Modern" themes. The sea portion is treated with an awesome liquid glass finish.
Since our regular urban tile's height is at 1cm, there is a 3cm height difference meant to emphasise the vertical docks. You can "join" the harbour tiles with your regular tiles just by adding some of our resin stairs. However, more raised tiles and/or sloped roads (by making use of the Urban Rises & Slopes Elevation System) will produce more interesting layouts. Harbour tiles can be joined in a row to form a full harbour. The third harbour design (canal exit) allows you to let your canals meet the sea.
The 3 Harbour Tile Designs you can choose from are:
Straight Quay,
Stepped Quay,
City Canal Harbour Exit
MAGNETISED TILE OPTION
This is not an extra tile design but an Upgrade for any of the tiles you are choosing. Tiles of all themes and designs can be enhanced, to become magnetically enabled. Very slim metal sheets are placed underneath the "city block" parts of the tiles (i.e. everywhere but the roads) and now any scenic piece with a magnetic base sticks. I find it is better you experience the effect yourselves, so we made a short demo video:
"Magnetised" tiles have slightly increased thickness by 0.3mm. Actually, it is barely noticeable next to regular tiles and it won't affect neither terrain placement nor aesthetics. If there is an issue you should consider before upgrading your tiles, it is the weight increase. Some of the tiles may double in weight.
Why upgrade your tiles this way? We already have many magnetically based terrain pieces, and we are planning a full line of magnetic accessories, including Trees with city pavement bases, City Lights (both old-fashioned and modern), Traffic lights, Flower beds, Wire Fences, Stone walls (like the ones you are getting as a gift!), Town hedges and many more. Check the Magnetised Urban Terrain Scenics for options!
FROSTGRAVE LOOK OPTION
If you play many games of Frostgrave (the excellent Skirmish game), or if you just enjoy the coolness of the Frozen City look, then this new Upgrade is for you: you can update any (or all) of the tiles in your Medieval Set to look weather-beaten from snow storms. This option is available only for Medieval themed Harbour Tiles. We treat the tiles with flock and resin, so that they get a white dusting, snow drifts and frozen ice pools on the streets. Also, there will be ice chunks floating on the cold water. Please note that the Frozen City treatment is not removable - it will change the look of your medieval tiles permanently.
